3 May Blood Donation Drive at China Square Central

Cerebos & China Square Central In Collaboration to Save Lives

19 Apr 2013

Singapore, 19 April 2013 – In a first-time joint collaboration, Cerebos Pacific Limited, together with China Square Central, will be organising its first ever blood donation drive at Level 1, main atrium on 3 May 2013 with collection done by the Singapore Red Cross. As a major tenant at the centre, Cerebos has always been supportive of the activities organised by the building management. This is, however, the first time both companies are working together in a blood donation drive as part of a joint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effort.

At the moment blood supplies at the Blood Bank are below optimum and lives could be at risk if the stocks are not boosted up. About 350 units of blood is required daily, with a minimum of 100,000 units of blood required annually, to meet the transfusion needs of Singapore hospitals according to the Health Sciences Authority.  As such, blood donation drives are important in generating a constant and ready supply of blood for use in emergencies. With this in mind, Cerebos and China Square Central aim to raise awareness of the need for blood donors among the staff of tenants in the precinct. The collaborators are targeting to collect 150 units through this one-day blood donation drive by encouraging all the building tenants as well as the public to donate.

Mr. Eiji Koike, President & Group CEO, Cerebos Pacific Limited, said, “CSR is one of Cerebos’ key business fundamentals and we aim to engage the community through initiatives that are meaningful and beneficial.

As a major tenant, Cerebos is delighted to partner our landlord to help save lives by raising the national emergency blood supplies. While this is the first time that we are organising such a donation drive together, I believe our common commitment to CSR will see us collaborating again in the near future.”

A spokesman from China Square Central said, “We are committed to contributing positively towards the community. Our key priority is to engage the community and create a sustainable environment. We are pleased to partner Cerebos in the organisation of such a meaningful activity. We encourage tenants and the public around the vicinity to come forward to generously participate in the donation drive which will be manned by the Singapore Red Cross & Health Sciences Authority.”
